BRDG is a non-profit organization dedicated to the success of first-generation college students majoring in engineering and computer science.

 

General Requirements

• Engineering and computer science majors

• First-generation college students

• Attending a 4-year university

• Graduating in 2028 or later - in Junior Standing

Note: Students with financial aid are preferred and highly encouraged to apply

 

Overview: Leadership Development Program is designed to help first-generation STEM students go beyond technical knowledge and become confident, career-ready professionals.

 

Through hands-on workshops and one-to-one mentoring, you’ll learn the professional “dos and don’ts” that aren’t always taught in the classroom; from communicating with professionals and building your network to creating a strong LinkedIn profile, interviewing, navigating workplace expectations, and presenting yourself with confidence.

 

BRDG connects you with industry professionals who can provide real-world guidance, mentorship, and opportunities that can help open doors to internships, jobs, and future career growth.

Benefits:

• Selected students will be given a stipend at $250 per week during Spring 2027 Semester. 

• During the program, selected students will be:

  • will be paired with a mentor with professional experience

  • will be exposed to social, cultural and professional issues discussions/workshops

  • will be assisted in finding a paid 10-week summer internship in his/her field/major

 

Responsibilities:

• Meet with the assigned mentor once a week

• Actively participate in bi-weekly workshops, which may include assigned research and readings

• Actively participate in project meetings, scheduled as required
