Noemi Linares-Ramirez is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of California, Irvine. She is a 1st generation college student herself. She is studying the intersection of race, education, and STEM. Her work has been funded by the National Science Foundation and Mellon Mays Foundation. 

 

Noemi is passionate about racial equality and diversity. Her mission is to increase diversity in STEM sectors because diversity always leads to better outcomes for people and organizations, which is one of the reasons why she volunteers with BRDG. 

 

Noemi fully understands the challenges that 1st generation students are going through and she believes the students at BRDG are brilliant and hardworking, and all they need is guidance and mentorship to continue making an impact as Computer Scientists and Engineers.
